An understanding of the guiding values of the Declaration of Independence and insights into American and Utah history will help our students shape the next 250 years of our democracy. In addition to reaching 500 K-12 civics teachers with professional training, America250 Utah is providing teachers and guardians with resources to support student learning.

America250 Utah Essay & Art Contest
The Utah State Board of Education is awarding six $1,000 scholarships to prize-winning students who connect the ideas in the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution to their own lives today. Students in grades 5, 8, and 9-12 can enter by submitting an original essay or a piece of visual art that shares their voice, vision, and perspective. Submissions are due March 30, 2026.
