Walk250 Utah challenges every Utahn to complete 250 miles of outdoor exercise between July 2025 and December 2026 to honor our nation’s 250th anniversary.
The power of Utah’s landscapes offers a powerful lens through which we can view the past, be a jumping off point for adventure, and foster learning about mountains, deserts, and waterways we call home. We hope that through celebrating the outdoors Utahns can take time to examine our natural environments and use it to find connections to each other and our country’s history.

Special Opportunities for Walk250 Finishers
Completing 250 miles is no small feat — and we want to celebrate you for it. Utahns who finished all 250 miles had the following opportunities to mark the occasion:
- Receive a Commemorative Certificate: Every Utahn who completes the 250-mile challenge by the end of 2026 will receive a digital certificate to print — a lasting reminder that you were part of one of America's most significant milestones.
- Utah Adventure Getaways: Participants who completed the Walk250 Utah Challenge by July 1, 2026, were entered into a drawing for a personalized weekend adventure getaway. Five winners received getaway packages to Salt Lake, Davis, Garfield, Iron, and Uintah Counties, encouraging them to continue exploring the state that carried them through their 250-mile journey.
- Walk as an Athlete at the Utah Summer Games: Those that completed their miles by May 30, 2026, were invited to march as an athlete in the Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games, Presented by State Bank of Southern Utah — held Friday, June 5 in Cedar City.
Add some 1776 to your steps
The Dominguez-Escalante expedition was a five-month and nearly 1,700 mile journey through Utah in 1776. The expedition mapped large areas of the American West. Trace the steps of these explorers.
